That place is Transylvania. The region has had the essentials in place for years: purpose-built congress infrastructure at scale, its own airport at Brasov-Ghimbav with direct connections to key European hubs, and a destination fresh enough that delegates still talk about it after the event ends. Now international hotel brands are arriving too. What has changed is not the destination, but who is looking at it, as foreign planners are only starting to discover what local organisers have used all along.

Why Transylvania works for conferences
Three things make the region genuinely practical, not just picturesque.
First, access. Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport connects the region directly to hubs like London, Milan, Rome, Budapest and Warsaw, and Bucharest's Henri Coanda International Airport is a 2.5-3h drive away for intercontinental arrivals. Once here, everything in this guide sits within 35 minutes of the terminal: Kronwell in Brasov city is the closest at around 15 minutes, the Hilton Garden Inn a touch further at 20, and the Poiana Brasov venues furthest out on the mountain road at 30 to 35.
Second, concentration. Brasov city and Poiana Brasov, its mountain resort 12 km uphill, together hold the region's largest venues. A programme can combine a city-centre conference day with a mountain gala evening without a single long transfer.
Third, the delegate experience. A medieval old town, the Carpathians on the doorstep, and a food culture built around shared tables mean the social programme almost writes itself. Delegates go home talking about the destination, which is precisely what makes them show up to the next edition.

Alpin Conference Centre, Poiana Brasov: the heavyweight
The Alpin Conference Centre is the largest corporate events centre in Romania, and the numbers speak plainly: 7,500 sqm of event space, 40 modular rooms including 16 conference rooms and 20 breakout rooms, hosting up to 4,250 guests combined.
What makes it work for congress organisers is that it functions as a self-contained campus. Around 700 beds across three 4* accommodation units (Hotel Alpin, ApartHotel and Alpin House) sit directly on site, alongside 4 restaurants and 3 terraces for catering at scale, plus dedicated expo halls for exhibitions and sponsor stands. A multi-day congress with parallel sessions, an exhibition area and evening functions can run entirely under one roof, with the ski slopes and forest trails of Poiana Brasov waiting outside for the free afternoon.

Ana Hotels, Poiana Brasov: resort-style flexibility
A few minutes away, Ana Hotels operates three properties on one site: Sport 4*, Bradul 4* and Poiana 3*, together offering 224 rooms next to the ski slopes. For meetings, the complex holds 11 versatile, modular event rooms hosting more than 1,000 guests combined, including a modular ballroom for up to 450 delegates that opens onto a terrace facing the fir forest, and 8 meeting rooms with natural daylight.
The complex earns its place on shortlists for the delegate experience around the meeting: a spa centre with pools, saunas and 8 massage rooms, an outdoor hot tub in the forest, and restaurants on site. For larger formats, the nearby Poiana Brasov Leisure Center adds a modular hall for up to 900 participants in theatre or cocktail setup, 600 in banquet format, and roughly 600 sqm of exhibition space.
The range across the three hotels also solves a common budget problem: keynote speakers and VIPs in the renovated Bradul, delegates in Sport or Poiana, everyone in the same place for the 9 am start.
Best for: conferences of 100 to 900 delegates that want a resort setting, tiered accommodation and a strong wellness offer.

Kronwell & Qosmo Hotels, Brasov: the city options
For events that belong in the city, Kronwell Hotel 4* is Brasov's largest meeting venue: capacity for up to 1,600 guests across its meeting spaces, elegant party rooms hosting up to 850, and 81 rooms on site. For overflow accommodation, its sister property Qosmo Hotel adds 128 double rooms and 5 suites in the Coresi business district, a few minutes' drive away. Qosmo brings its own 200-seat restaurant and 1,000 sqm of conference halls and modular studios, making the pair a natural fit for programmes that need both scale and a second, quieter base for breakout sessions.
Its location next to the railway and one of the city's central bus stations and main road access makes it the practical choice for events drawing national attendance, and its dedicated bowling and billiard club gives planners a built-in answer for the informal evening. Hilton Garden Inn, Brasov: the newest arrival
Brasov's accommodation landscape took a visible step forward in 2026 with the opening of the Hilton Garden Inn Brasov, the city's first Hilton-branded hotel, taking bookings from mid-July 2026.
The newly built property brings 156 rooms and 495 sqm of meeting space across five rooms: a modular main hall (275 sqm, up to 270 delegates theatre-style or 140 cabaret-style), plus four further rooms for breakouts and boardroom-style sessions. Delegates get a fitness centre, a wellness area with steam and dry saunas plus a salt room, and an all-day Mediterranean restaurant with an outdoor terrace. The hotel sits in the Bartolomeu district, directly opposite the Brasov Polivalent Centre — set to become Romania's largest multifunctional arena — and across from the international bus station, with Poiana Brasov and Bran Castle each around 25 minutes away and Brasov-Ghimbav International Airport roughly 20 minutes away.
For planners, the significance goes beyond the room count. An international flag in Brasov means loyalty programmes, brand-standard consistency and easier internal sign-off for corporate clients who require branded properties. It is one more sign that the destination's infrastructure is catching up with what clients have been asking for.
Best for: mid-sized meetings and conferences of up to 270 delegates that need a recognised international brand and modern, purpose-built facilities.

Radisson Blu Aurum, Brasov: the ultra-central option
For briefs that call for a genuinely central address, Radisson Blu Aurum sits in the heart of Brasov Old Town, on the site of the historic Goldsmiths' Guild. It's the city's only 5* hotel of this scale, with 110 rooms and the Aurum Events Center offering 3 flexible meeting venues for up to 150 guests, with modular layouts, integrated AV and sound, natural daylight, and dedicated event coordination throughout.
The setting does the differentiating work here. A wine cellar built into the old town's original stone wall hosts private tastings and intimate dinners for a genuinely memorable close to a high-level meeting. Upstairs, the restaurant continues the site's craftsmanship story with a menu fusing European and Asian flavours, while a rooftop sky bar gives a natural venue for an evening reception above the rooftops of the old town.
This isn't the venue for a 2,000-delegate congress. It's the venue for the board meeting, the executive retreat, or the high-level session where the address and the finish matter as much as the room count.

Wolkendorf, Vulcan village: the full takeover
Not every brief wants a big-city hotel. Wolkendorf Bio Hotel & Spa sits in Vulcan, a Saxon village around 20 minutes from Brasov in the historic Burzenland region, with the Carpathian foothills, Rasnov fortress and Zarnesti canyon all within easy reach. It's an organic, sustainability-led property with 45 rooms, which makes it an unusual fit for conference use: modest overnight capacity, paired with a main hall that seats up to 250 in theatre style (500 sqm, natural light, full blackout), plus a second room for 35.
That mismatch is exactly the point. This isn't a venue for a congress with overflow accommodation down the road, it's a venue for one company taking the whole place over: a full-day conference or all-hands in the main hall with theatre or U-shape seating, AV equipment, and blackout for presentations, wellness and spa access for the group in between sessions, and post-programme activities such as a garden barbecue with campfire or cycling. For a group small enough to fill the rooms, or a day-delegate conference that draws attendees in from Brasov for the sessions and dinner, it delivers a genuinely different, nature-first alternative to a city hotel ballroom.
Best for: single-company takeovers, all-hands and incentive-conference hybrids for groups that want a rural, self-contained setting rather than a city venue.
